It depends on how you want to handle the situation, you could take the cautious route of yes it was built before 2000 so I presume it is asbestos unless proven otherwise in which case you will need a reputable company in to deal with it which will no doubt cost lots of penny's or you could decide to be less cautious and deal with it yourself and either rip it out yourself in which case you as an individual householder are not covered by any regs in the removal only in the disposal of it (if it is asbestos).Or you could board it over with plaster board and forget about it.

Was thinking the latter whats the safest way to board over it any ideas?
