I'm about to try Johnstones Aqua Water Based Gloss on a big job. It's advised that Johnstones Aqua Undercoat should be used but I have a large supply of primer/ undercoat. It's going on old oil based gloss.
Can I use this as undercoat or do I have to use Johnstones, thereby doubling the cost?
Anyone used it?
Thanks

Does work best with their undercoat, may grin through otherwise.
Couple of tips for using it, Wipe the surface down with a damp cloth just before painting and dampen the brush with water before starting.(y)

Stick with johnstones much better density of pigment.

I find the gloss pretty good as water based gloss goes it's the best of a bad bunch
