Just about to fit the bottom row of tiles, ie next to the bath.

Should I fit one of those plastic trims around the bath first ...

Or should I just fit the tiles, then when dry, add a bead of silicone sealant ...

Or should I use grout.

I have seen various options mentioned, with some folk saying to avoid the silicone, as it would then trap any water, which got through the tiles above.

Thanks

dont use a plastic trim, they look rubbish and look even worse after a few years.

Use a good quality bathroom sanitary silicone with a mould inhibitor, don't be tempted to go cheap, they have a very low silicone content. Fill your bath with cold water before you silicone it, the weight drops the bath to its lowest height - leave it filled overnight.

Take your time when applying the silicone, cut a small 5mm hole and then smooth it with a wet finger. use masking tape if it makes you feel safer!
