jointers - confused

jointers / planers / thicknessers.... I am more than a bit confused. Any advice in terms of purchasing? The terms seem to be interchangeable these days, yes I do know the difference of their functions :)

Basically you can buy a jointer/planer or a thicknesser or a combination of both.
Some would say a dedicated jointer/planer is more accurate as the tables are fixed permanently. Then you would need the thicknesser to accurately dimension the lumber.
Pro shops have separates. Mainly because change overs are not necessary and they usually have the space..

Good machine. I have a few small jet machines.
And it has the helical head. You need a chip collector also with one of those.
This guy explains it well..
