Hi R,
I have been told by building control, to use a membrane before the battens (to stop rot) then insulate.
I have to fit drip vents above the damp course for any moisure running down between the bricks and membrane.

Hmm, if water is running down the inside of your wall I'd fix the leak before insulating the wall..

It won't be a leak, but condensation.

Doesn't make sense. If you put a membrane against a cold wall then have a void in which warm moist air can enter then the condensation will form on the batten side of the membrane because the membrane will be at the same temperature as the wall

If you're using foil faced taped/sealed/membrane on warm side then warm moist air doesn't reach the wall-touching membrane

Go for it if BC have told you to put it there though; they'll take a dim view of you not doing something they've told you to do whether it's been thought through by them or not
