Trying to take off wood panels between kitchen cupboards to paint them but unable to remove them. The attached photo shows how they are fixed at both ends but struggling to move them. Any hints???? Any help would be appreciated.

I can't understand your photo, but it might be showing a trim panel under the front of wall cabs, with a support piece. There seems to be daylight showing under the support.

Show us some more pics please, include inside the cabinet, looking at the bottom. Also the wall end of the support piece.
You need to indicate what is the front, and what is the side, and which way is up.

Decor panels, which I don't think you mean, are attached with short screws going through the side of the cabinet.

Hi John. The new photos attached I hope are clearer. Doesn’t appear to std screw

do you mean the pelmet under the doors?

What happens when you remove the screws from those plastic fixings?

I think the screw head might be for an eccentric fastener with a fin that bites into the wood with a quarter or half turn only.

It looks like a home-made arrangement to me.

What happens if you undo the screw? Is it then still glued?

It is a qtr turn screw but the plastic bit is still fixed in. Do I twist it? Do I lift it? Do I lever it off outward with a screw driver? Haven’t seen these fixings before. Don’t know how to remove it. Do I need to take the cupboards off first? If I can’t get the panels off the only thing I can do is paint them in situ. But then it won’t look as good.

loosen the screw and pull the round part out.

The other leg of the bracket might lever off, if it is on pegs pushed into holes, or there might be screws.

If it is a quarter turn screw then I would think the plastic bracket and wood should pull away from the round part -

but of course it can't move that way because of the other end.

It must have been put together at the same time as the unit.

It must have been put together whilst the whole structure was being put together is what I’m thinking. Even slackening both ends doesn’t give it enough room to pull out because of the cupboards carcass. Grrrr! Frustrating. I thought it was a simple job as well. Thanks for your input guys

sacrifice the plastic bracket

reassemble after painting, with blocks.
