Having just had a kitchen installed and a new floor layed, all that remains is to install the plinths (by the kitchen fitters when I call them) and the new skirting boards (probably by me). There are just 2 points where skirting and plinths meet, at right angles, so which should be fitted first? I'm thinking fitting plinths make it easier in one way as the skirting will then just need a square end, but if its a nice and tight fit the skirting might make it tricky to get the plinth off? Alternatively, fitting skirting first needs the plinth to be scribed to the skirting profile, will it look neat enough? I guess the join can be caulked if necessary.
I haven't actually got the skirting yet, which also makes me think about the size of it, should the skirting be shorter or around the same height as the plinths? I'm thinking it should be shorter.
