I am just about to install 3 new kitchen halogen wall spots and wondered if it would be okay to spur of an existing unswitched socket (refrigerator)? Or would I have to take it from the lighting main? I am installing a new 2 gang switch to switch 2 of the spots seperately (on the kitchen wall) and a spot in the fridge alcove seperately. Is this possible/safe/legal? All help much appreciated.

you can spur from a socket provided it is not itself a spur

in this case you should run from the socket in 2.5mm to a fused connection unit with a 3A fuse and run your lights from that

Mate you're a legend! Thank you, that's going to save me a lot of time and effort!
