I am currently in the process of re-wiring a utility type room to convert it into a kitchen. Unfortunately this room was built with a solid floor and all of the wiring goes via the ceiling space, and I am reluctant to break into the ceiling to add another socket to the existing ring main.

With this in mind I would like to add a hood extractor (supplied with a plug) and a gas hob that requires ignition (supplied without a plug), by adding a spur to an existing socket and running cable to two single sockets, that will be placed behind the hood extractor and worktop respectively.

From what I've read, it seems that adding a spur with two sockets is against regulations, is this correct? If this is not the case, will I require FCU's for either of these appliances?

Thanks in advance.

that's absolutely correct, you cannot spur more than one socket from a single point on the ring main..

is durham in england? or is the one in Ireland? my geography sucks..

if it's in england, then you need to notify the LABC and get your work checked since part P.
