hi, im hoping someone will be able to put some light on the noise im getting from the front wheels, rover 45 2001 x reg, when i pull away and make a sharp turn, either direction, say from a junction, theres a knocking noise coming from the wheels, over the last few weeks its got louder, once the car straightens the noise goes, it only happens on a sharp turn from standstill. any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks
Chilli

ill give you three random possible causes

1/ foriegn body in tyre, can become noticable on turns and full lock (very limited as it should be noticed prior to in normal transit

2/ ball joint wish bone problem, noticeable on turning full lock(every chance it could be this and again have had same problem recified on ford escort encore fault wish bone)

3/ cv joint, again every chance however im inclined to suggest that cv joint deteriation gives more rapid knocks as splines tend to grind

your vehicle needs immediate attention, however do not bypass option one in order to prevent unecessary cost so check tyres first for nails screws etc.
