I think the Notting Hill Carnival is rooted in Caribbean culture so, as I said in my earlier post, you will see quite a mix of participants and revellers of all nationalities.

What's that? I'd have thought all, and any discrimination is negative. It isn't the prerogative of one person, one culture, one ethnicity, etc.

There is such a thing they call positive discrimination its crap really so your right discrimination is discrimination.

I've only been Notting Hill once. Surprisingly predominantly white

Well said conny, you don't need to be Hindu to attend a Diwali, Muslim to visit a Mosque, Christian to celebrate Christmas, Jewish to visit a Synagogue, Chinese to enjoy the Lunar New Year, etc.

I'm a sucker for a bit of culture

Been to two a Jewis wedding and regretfully missed a Muslim wedding. Been to a couple of Mosques and a synagogue, I'm not religious but have enjoyed a time I was invited in a local church Mainly Black but all different nationalities. Great upbeat music and all that jazz......

Glastonbury

Attended by hippies and dead beats all bombed out of there eads on mind altering substances

Get a job :ROFLMAO:

Racism, multi-faceted issue, quite interesting.
One of them is the role of epigenetics. Worth googling if you never heard of it.

Basically something learned by one generation is inherited by the next. Without any experience of whatever it was. It can be one generation, or many.

It works via changes in stuff around dna, which doesn't affect the CGTA string itself but does affect many physical expressions of the dna, and mental processes too. If you google "epigenetics racism" you find some relevant articles.
If you get down to histone tails and methyltransferase activity, SAM and SAH, you're way too deep, though it is interesting to dive into.

I think if we all took the time to chat with our neighbours and in my case your customers of different back grounds, race and religion you might find that we are not all so different.

About anything ....... race included

The same things gripe and get on a nerves, we like the same things The same worry for our children, crime, concerns about the future.

Around ~10% of the UK's population are not white. That is any people of any colour that is not seen as white. Best bear that in mind when counting numbers at some event. Also that music tastes as with food is something that can vary. Actual seen as black is a smaller proportion. Info can be found on the NOS. Also I think British born or not.

Racism though. Some aspects will be down to humans tending to be tribal. That can relate to religion or an area they live in even style of dress. Type of food eaten did figure more once. What's the difference between Scots, Welsh and the English really? Very little other than accent maybe but that varies across England and in parts of the others. These indicate how easily political thoughts can be used to influence opinions in the general public. Then people may inherit feelings but frankly going on my experiences that does have a tendency to die out over time. Not with all though and usually people blame some race with their own problems and often that aspect has zero to do with them.

LOL Forgot the Eaton Harrow accent.

Eh?!?

That can't be right. 'They're everywhere!' people shout, 'our country isn't our own any more!' people shout, 'you can't walk down the street without seeing face after face that isn't white!' people shout.

I think when you hit the '1' key you obviously mean to hit the 3 or 4.

;)

The Current Ethnic Minority figure in UK is 14.4% but this includes all races
so deducting White Faced groups the figure drops to around 10%

Only 3% of the UK population is black, link , however TV and the media heavily skew perceptions, TV and adverts would suggest it was more like 20 to 25%, Sport, in particular football would suggest closer to 50%. (if football selected equally from society there would only be one black player in every three teams). so football clubs must be discriminating against white players to avoid being called racist.

I don't think I have seen a black person where I live since BLM, and I never took any notice before then. I do occasionally see people of black on my visits to Edinburgh, but that won't be on every visit. So getting back to festivals, it is never going have the same black ethnic mix as a BBC programme.
