We were thing off laying Laminate floor in one 1 room.
We have taken all the skirting board off because its in ban condition, it will be replaced with new ones.

I was thinking, I know when you lay Laminate floor you leave an inch or less from the side of the wall and then you fill this gap with a thin sort of boarder for a complete finish.

Rather than, putting this boarder to fill the gap can we just simple put the skirting on instead?

Many Thanks

The gap is for the floor to be able to expand/contract without "tenting". Still leave the prescribed gap and the new skirting will cover it.

Don't fix the skirting to the floor in any way, or it won't be able to expand/contract.
