Hi,

I am planning to install laminate flooring on concrete floor (no under floor heating). I am looking for an underlay with good insulation properties so that the floor does not become cold.

From my research I have found 2 products which look intersting:
1) Depron: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/250494864052
2) Sonic gold underlay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/250417309440
The second one does not make any claims about insulation but seems like a dense foam, so I am assuming it will have good thermal resistance.

Do you have good experience with another product for insulation + underlay purposes?

Many Thanks!

Insulation relies on trapping air or another gas.

Anything that is compressible and is regularly compressed such as underlay will not and cannot have any insulation value worth thinking about.

As little as 20 mm will have an effect but really needs to be 50 mm+.
