Hi

We have recently had some remedial damp work done to our Victorian flat, now a few months later one of our front cornices has quite quickly developed a large crack.

I can’t see any other cracks coming off it, so am thinking it’s maybe been a bit damp after the higher internal moisture levels and now they have gone down and it’s warm it’s just dried and split…? Didn’t notice anything major before.

Is it possible/worth repairing or better to just replace?

Many thanks for any advice.

Running coving by looks of it.
Moulded in place Vs buying lengths and sticking. Look's like it has broken away for some reason.
They can make a template and drag along to mould cornice, which you can watch being done on YouTube..

You can get a company to make a template and run in a repair.

OP,
The first thing you need to do is to find out why a crack has suddenly developed?
What was the recent remedial damp work - & was it in the vicinity of the pics?
Why not post pics of the outside - show from ground level to above your flat ceiling height.
Has the flat above complained of any structural movement or damp penetration?

Hi

Yep, there was work below the window and either side of it, the outside looks ok and no complaints from upstairs. Will get someone to take a proper look.
