Hi

Can anyone tell me whether it's ok to use large wall tiles (25x33cm) on a stud wall in a bathroom? - is there likely to be any problem with their weight? Do I need to use any special adhesive? Also I'm going to be tiling on to walls which have been painted (I think with a non-bathroom paint as its peeling a bit) - do I need to remove the paint before tiling?

As you can probably tell I'm a real novice, but willing to learn!

Thanks

No problem with tiling onto a stud wall.
Get all the loose paint off first and rub down the remaining paint with some sandpaper to key it first then proceed as normal. Whack a 5:1 (5 parts water, 1 part pva) coat of pva on before you tile though.

I would recommend applying an oil based primer to the plasterboard before the PVA. Just thinking of the person who decides to remove your tiles at a later date.
