Hi, i need to raise the level of my kitchen floor slightly, so that it is level with my dining room floor, my kitchen floor is concrete, i was thinking of using plywood, and finishing of with ceramic tiles . Would this be ok ? if so what would be the best way of doing it.

Cheers ...............

As the floor is concrete I would avoid adding a material that is likely to expand and contract at different rates.

Depending on the height difference either build it up with a suitable self leveler or stick Aquapanel to the concrete with tile adhesive.

Hi, could i not use plastic sheeting as a membrane and then screw a good quality plywood 18mm thick board to the floor ?

Cheers.............

Do you also have a damp problem? as why would you be adding a polythene DPM.

What is the actual height difference between the two floors?

No, i don't seem to have a damp problem, just thought it would help protect the plywood from any possible moisture if any in the concrete floor. The thing is in my dinning room area i have solid wood flooring and i would like to lay ceramic tiles in my kitchen area as you already know, the difference between the two floors is about 30mm. I was just thinking of the cost Aquapanel is pretty expensive, (well they are in wickes) , are Fastwarm panels any good ? i have seen the Fastwarm panels online and you can get a 20mm thick panel which would be ideal and they also seem to be a be a bit cheaper.

Cheers............

Could try this Much more economical than aquapanel.

I'd also suggest underfloor heating while you're at it. It's the way to go.
