Hi,

I have a bricklayer on Monday and it looks like rain (some heavy) is to be expected.

Is it ok to lay the start of our new extension in the rain (the foundation is pooling with water now)

Many Thanks,

Kevin

Not a problem as such, as cement based products love water and hate dry conditions or being denied water.

Only thing that may concern is, overely wet blocks, torrential rain that is so heavy it washes the mortar out or wet moaning brickies.

It would not matter for instance if there was a small amount of standing water in the trench. Just brush out and bale what you can. Also the blocks will adhere better if they are damped down rather than bone dry.

If rain were ever a problem to brickies then nowt would ever get built in the North Wales/Manchester area! :p

Contrary to the popular belief of you southerners, Manchester is not in an area of high rainfall!
