evening all, question if you don't mind.

lead flashing to dormer cheeks, the pitch of the roof is 40 degrees with composite slate, the dormer is having cedral weatherboard, when I re tile to the dormer cheeks do I have to use soakers and flashing or can I use aluminium soakers and no flashing on the rake. The front of the dormer needs flashing is 225mm lead wide enough code 4 or do I need to go wider, any help would be great, thank you.

Your soakers will be weathered by the dormer cheek material so no need for a cover flashing here.

Your front apron will need enough cover to give 100mm headlap onto the tiles and 150mm vertically. 225mm may be a bit tight.

You will need some external pitched apron corners burning to deal with these junctions.

Brilliant, thank you Noseall, have you been to the tool porn shop that is FFX recently?

Noseall, just let it be known I am not doing the lead work on this dormer, I've worked in the past with an elderly chap who was an absolute wiz with lead very very skilled, however, he has retired. Thus I have someone recommended to me but I am a little uncomfortable with his methods and need clarification. The dormer window is 2400mm long, we have a 60mm deep window frame plus another 85mm for ply baton and weatherboard. He has asked me to supply 2 no. Rolls of lead 3mtrs x 175mm and he is going to welt the joint on the lead down the length of the window under the sill but in two halfs a at 1.5mtrs each, the latter sounds correct, but I don't see the need for the welt???????
