At a friends house he has a water leak on the leadlock Copper to lead joint). On checking,the lead pipe it goes from 1st floor down to ground level to the stopcock. where the leak is it tee's off to goto the attic to header tank it also looks as it goes some of the way to feeding the cold taps i have advised him to have it removed and replaced with copper from as close to stop cock as poss am i correct in advising this

Yes. Lead is no good for you whatsoever (unless you weigh it in as scrap).

Tell him to consider replacing his underground supply if it lead too.
