We have lifted an existed patio which we want to replace with new stone and extend. We have a good level concrete base to work with for most of the area, however the remaining section is on a downward slope and therefore needs a very small retaining wall to level the patio.
Can we use railway sleepers under the paving slabs at the end of the patio in order to raise the ground level? One would be sufficient on each side of the patio. Thinking we would lay it on concrete base in trench. Bricks would look out of place against the flint walls of our house and we feel a sleeper will be easier as a DIY job!
Would reclaimed oak sleeper be best for this?
Thanks!
