Hi,

I am currently experiencing cold air coming from behind my kitchen cabinets at floor level.

The kitchen wall backs on to a lift shaft which is extremely draughty. Could the draft be coming from the shaft?

I was wondering if I would need to remove the kitchen cabinets and seal the wall up? there is a small gap between the wall and floor behind the cabinets.

Its breeze block in the lift shaft and i presume its just plasterboard in the kitchen.

Also would the draught circulate around the whole house behind the walls?

Any ideas?

If this is a high-rise, then you should not be getting any draughts or air from any other part of the building, and if you are then this is a fire spread and safety issue.

You need to take this up with the landlord or management agent
