After years of having the garage illuminated by a halogen spot with a pir, I now have a fluorecant tube and a couple of low energy bulbs in batten fittings. The only problem is that the family are sooooo used to the lights being automatic, they now habitually leave the garage with the light lights burning.

Can I replace the current switch with one of these

or does the low energy restriction discount its use?

thanks.

It says incandescent which means the filament type lamps, not fluorescent / energy saving etc.

use that to feed a contactor that switches the lights on.

Or use a ceiling mounted pir. with over ride switch to turn either on, off, or automatic. 2 way switch with middle off position will do this.

you cant directly install one, it will need a neutral too, but one of these should work

(switches 1000w or 500w in flourescents)
