Hi everyone

My sister has a strange problem in a house she recently purchased. House built in 1970s. Last night when switching on an upstairs bathroom light, the light circuit throughout the house effectively tripped, sockets are still working

we can however only locate a single circuit breaker in the whole house, which is on an inside wall with the meter box on the other side outside

I would have thought if the lighting was on another circuit there must be another breaker somewhere? Any ideas!!

Thanks in advance

Inside the meter box ?

It should be within a few yards of the meter. It is not impossible that it was boxed in and completely hidden by the previous owner. Utterly stupid but not unknown and requires panels to be removed to get to it.

Not in meter box, but was hiding behind a panel the previous owners have tiled over! Thanks for your help!
