lighting switch from a 13amp ring main

I've not yet tested it to see if it is a ring, if it was a spur off a spur what would the implications be just to supply a 60 watt outside light?

IMHO the work you have done would have improved the situation since you have 1 less socket to draw power from anyway and a 60Watt bulb would use next to no power in comparison to running say an electric heater from the socket you removed plus you will have a seperate fuse for the light anyway.

I'm sure however that you will be told it's a no-no so best work out if it is on a ring and post the answer so that you can be advised the way forward.

A spur off a spur is not safe as the load on the cable may be more than the cable can tolerate before it bursts into flame.

Its not a matter of
just to supply a 60 watt outside light
.

Fixed wiring is often in place for many decades. The next person may change what is on the end of the cable for a very large load.

Do it right in the first place. It's not difficult.
