Rather then spread the manure over the soil around the vegetable, I now put a couple of trowel fulls of manure in an old kitchen bin, add a foot of water and leave it for the manure to dissolve into the water. It goes into the watering can for sprinkling on the the vege plants once a week.

This looks interesting for folk with limited space.

Not a lot of manure around my way, shame you can use the Bull **** from the local Council!;)

Done this for years , indeed my father used it and probably his before him.
Another "version" is to use comfrey , chopped up and allowed to break down in a tub of water. Said to be ready when it smells like an open sewer , and it does. I have been told , but not tried , that if the comfrey is placed in a sack and allowed to break down it will drip out a brown liquid fertiliser without the stink.
