Little advice

I have recently been changing a light fitting, i have never done this before so want to be sure im doing it correctly.

Wires from ceiling -

Black sheathing x 1

Red sheathing x 1

Green yellow x 1

Wires on light fitting -

Blue x 1

Brown x 1

Green yellow x 1

My assumed connection

Black - blue

Red - brown

Green yellow - green yellow.

Is this correct?

Yes.

Unless someone's done something really really bad using the g/y as a switched live.

how will i know if this is the case?

i did think where is the wiring from the dimmer switch.
