loft insulation and flooring

I have put in eight inches of loft insulation and am now wanting to add a floor. If I add the floor and screw it to the joists, the insulation will be compressed by half. Will this affect its insulation qualities? If so, how can I put in the floor without compressing the insulation?
How much insulation will the actual floor produce?
