Loft Insulation

Use the rock wool or mineral wool stuff for lofts, can't beat it and cost is generally cheaper.
Just be carefully around any down light fittings as there should be 150mm gap left around them to let heat dissipate.
Also the covering of electrical circuit for lights(normally okay if protected by 5/6 amp fuse/breakers) and power circuits sockets/heaters/showers etc.. should be avoided, heat dissipation from cables must be allowed or derating factor applied to confirm cables can carry current safely.
So it is best to lay cables above the insulation if possible
