Hey guys,

I've started clearing the space for the log cabin to go up.

There's currently a concrete base there but isn't big enough, so I planned on breaking it up and starting again.

But then I thought, if I raise it slighty, say, 2inches, could I lay new concrete over it?
Or am I asking for trouble, not knowing what under it/ was it done properly in the first place...

Cheers

If its for a log cabin rather than an el cheapo shed you would be wise to know its done right and will last.

If you did want to comtemplate going over the top the absolute minimum of concrete is 75mm/ 3'' but really you'd want 4''

By all means break it up well into brick or smaller sized chunks then concrete over the lot.

The absolute pukka job would be to dig down 6 inches put in a well compacted 4 inch hardcore base and then 4 inches of concrete

Or if your on decent ground i.e chalk you could happily ditch the hardcore and use 5'' of comcrete

Thanks for that, pretty much the answer I expected so will keep with plan A.

Had a little dig around the edge of it where it will be made bigger, and the shovel disappeared under it!
The slabs around 5-6" then there's nothing under it, at least a 400mm void underneath, it's like it's floating.

Can't wait to break it up and see what's supporting it!

Cheers
