Hi

A novice gardener here from London. Am looking for a low maintenance plant for our North facing front drive, which is mostly paved but has a 1. 5m by 1.5m bare area in corner. Any suggestions?

Thanks
J

Is it actually for a wall? Hydrangea petiolaris is lovely as a climber or pyracantha or cotoneaster franchetii.

For general shrubs, spotted laurel, portugal laurel, viburnum tinus is probably the best with winter flowers and berries and tough as hell.

Thanks. Its not for wall.

Then the viburnum mentioned, viburnum davidii, any form of laurel

Any of the green choisya, do fine in shade. The yellow ones need more sun.

Sweet box

All of the above are evergreen with almost no drop or leaves or flowers.

However there are lots of others that are more interesting but drop leaves and or lots of flowers/seeds so a little more work.

Things like hydrangeas, fuschias and viburnum opulus

Thanks. Ones that shed leaves are tempting if they have flowers. Especially it will also ensure that when plan grows up, in winter it won't block any light coming in through living room window. Thanks
