Hi

Can anybody help me and tell me how to put pressure in my central heating system please? The system is so low the boiler won't fire up and the pump is making strange noises (due to low pressure I think!).

I note the pressure gauge is at "zero" and from memory I used to add pressure to the system by adding water, but this system in my new house I am not sure of!

Any advice please? Is it a simple job>?

Many thanks in anticipation.........

Right I'll check it out today and get back to you tonight as I'm not in the house at the mo, Many thanks ;)

Well that isn't a combi boiler so may well not be on a sealed system. Is there a small header tank in the loft? If so, perchance it has no water in it, or the pipe from it which feeds the CH system is blocked - quite common. Search on Blocked Feed Pipe.

Thanks for the advice ChrisR, and I thought this was going to be a quick fix and just a matter of re-pressurising the system

The Classic is suitable for sealed systems, check the pipes coming off the top of the boiler for a filling loop, or trace where the pipes go, normally the loop is above behind the white plastic box on top of the boiler, the one with the gauge on.

Sorry to sound DUH!! OK I have found this, but what next??

When you say a "filling loop" is it like a tap or something that I can use to re-pressurise the system? after that is it then fixed?, ie, the gaugue is currently showing zero.........

Thanks in anticipation :D
