Hi - Our kitchen has sets of low voltage lights set into the ceiling. Problem is that one bank of 4 have started to switch off then come back on again after about 20 minutes. Any clues please or should I ditch them and replace with mains voltage lamps?

Sounds like the tranformer is on the blink - overheating, cutting out, cooling down, coming back on.

Overall I prefer mains halogens to ELV, but not everyone does. The biggest thing I would say is that at first you will notice that they aren't as white, but you should soon get used to them.

you haven't burried the transformer in insulation have you?

if you have this is a likely cause

failing that buy a decent quality transformer from an electrical wholesaler

the kits the sheds sold (they seem to mainly sell g10 mains stuff now) are ****
