hi all,

I need to install a magnetic filter on a old open vent system, ideal place is in the airing cupboard.

Trouble is there is no return pipe in there.

Could I tee it in after the vent, before the pump?

Putting it in the flow won't make a difference as it's an old system anyway (fitting all new rads)

I was just worried as putting in on the flow is a no no because of the vent.

Help please!

Thanks.

You can put a filter just about anywhere on a sealed but with a vented it would not be recommended to place before the vent or pump.

That being said, the best place to position a filter on any system is between the last rad and the boiler. The idea is to catch anything before it enters the boiler otherwise it's not really being effective.

There is room to put after the pump?

The water was clean..ish but the rads where black when drained.

The damage has already been done to the boiler, if any, so I don't think that's a problem.

The system was still working.
