main 18 he

my dad has just had a new boiler fitted from a glowworm swiftflow 40 to a main 18 he . The guy fitted but couldnt wire up as he would have to look into wiring as theres only a switch live on the new boiler and permanent on the old boiler. looked on internet about it and found that a pump overun is built in on the main boiler.
Would wiring have to be changed from box to power boiler with switch live.
Any help is greatly appreciated, dont want him coming back with a story were he can charge more money

Has your dad verified that this guy was actually legal? How on earth did he find a clown like that? I hope at least he was cheap.

was passed on by gas safe , but has been around for about 20 years.
He fitted boiler very quickly but was stumped for some reason by wiring,and said he would be back monday.
Just said boiler needs to be wired by switch live and old boiler has a permanent live

At least we know he is legal, though that doesn't mean he is good. The fact that he is unable to wire the boiler up with the diagrams provided in the manual is suspect, as is his choice of boiler.

I think the new boiler needs a permanent live as well as a switched live.

The old one probably only had a switched live.

He should have noticed that when he quoted and correct it at no extra cost.

He does not seem very well organised!
