I thought - rightly or wrongly - that it would be a good idea to keep my 61 plate A1 sorted with genuine Audi bits. (26700 miles).
So.....oil and filter change due. Quantum long life oil, (5litre) plus a genuine filter, £92.92
Someone's having a larf here! Maybe it's time for a re-think.
John :)

Is that the dealer invoice price as parts on a service invoice? Lots of margin maybe included. If sourcing yourself to do yourself you could do a lot better.. I have bought quantum long life for about £40 and a Mann filter for under £10. Opie oils or even Eurocrats parts offers those sorts of prices, castrol edge long life allegedly what is inside quantum bottles...

Just a parts invoice mate.....maybe I'll regret it later but I prefer to do the maintenance myself. I keep the invoices as 'service history' - probably valueless but Ill keep the car for 5 years, in which time it will be worth nowt anyway.
It was obvious where the prices came from, really.....I was met by a pair of 6" heels who asked if I was having a good day, escorted to the parts desk, offered coffee and then the heels went in search of a 'parts executive' :p
I didn't imagine the oil would be so expensive, I admit!
My own motor factor supplied semi synth oil and a filter for my van, £20!
No worries

The depth of carpet in reception usually tells me what I need to know.
So long, amigo ...............

That lady would probably be like that to everyone (I met her type before) and you thinking you were special! Probably nearly forgot what you went in for ............

In our A3 i always try to go for a mann filter from euros and ive managed to get the oil down to £25 for 5 litres, that's a decent 5w 30 fully synthetic which i believe meets longlife specs.

I've been looking at doing my servicing on the Peugeot. Although I've been taking it in to the dealer up until now to make sure of the warranty, it's five years old now. I really don't want to pay for the carpet, coffee, and six inch heels any longer. It'll be back to the local guy for MOTs as well. He's a sensible guy, tells you what's wrong, and not what he'd like to be wrong. There ain't much carpet in his workshop though!
I'm reckoning on fitting decent pattern parts and the recommended fully synth oil.

At that price I would too!
Now where do I get size 11 steelies with six inch heels! :)

It is funny though that the dealer I've been using has a clone of your "six inch heels" :)

Last year I took the car in, and was sat waiting for my turn to pay. The bill wasn't too bad to be honest, they had an offer on, about £140 for service and MOT. (Still £100 for what is basically an oil change though) I overheard a couple of other customers paying. Can't remember the details, but in each case there were some other bits. One was for a clutch. That was £600+ The other one slips my mind, exhaust and some other bits. Might have been a bit of bodywork. IIRC. The guy looked happy to be paying well over a grand for it. . .
