In a rural area, I have a seized stoptap on copper pipe (traditional screwdown style). It's being replaced by temporarily shutting off the water to the entire village by the water supply company. The plumber has recommended changing it for a quarter turn spherical ball valve (and associated check valves etc.). Searching gives lots of opinions and it appears that guidance has changed recently. Any plumbers have thoughts on moving away from the traditional screw style to the easier to use lever style of valve? I can see that flow will be more difficult to control (on or off with lever valves) but the valve should be easier to operate for longer?
