Marley Cedral Weatherboard

DAJ

Hi. I am considering cladding the entire rear of my property and an extension in the cement board by Marley. The raer measures about 34' x 90' plus a 20' x 20' x 16' extension.

Several questions. Any problems with this material, is timber just as good or better, does it NEED painting, where in Essex can I buy it and how much?

I've emailed Marley for suppliers with no reply! As far as finding prices on the www, no joy either!

HELP!

I've specified and seen it used on a number of projects, as you know its fixed the same as timber cladding, I've never known any problems with it, as with timber, the key to getting it to look good is in the fixing/cutting etc. Get that right and it can look really good. I'd be surprised if you couldn't just order it through any builders merchant given that its a Marley Product. Marley will send you some samples if you ring them, you'll probably get more sense if you ring them rather than email! Here are a few suppliers off the top of my head:

http://www.euroform.co.uk/index.shtml
http://www.cwberry.com/default.aspx (not sure if they supply anymore)

I did a cost comparison a while ago and it was cheaper than UPVC although the link for the cedral supplier no longer works (cwberry was a supplier) //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=661558#661558

There are also a few other manufacturers eg http://www.almuracladdings.co.uk/certainteed/

Thanks for that, Marley have given me a list of local suppliers and are sending samples of the colours I am considering.

One other question, rather than hiring a nail gun, I am going to buy a used one, probably a gas/bat one. I wish to fix the boards over a period of time, weather and time permitting, so hiring would work out expensive.

Can you reccommend a make and model of one best suited for fixing the Marley weatherboard and which type of fixings. marley obvious suggest a length etc. but i would like your opinion(s).
I am currently looking at a few Paslodes on ebay, but some look like they're over-capable of the job. I've been told that the first fix guns are for 3" and 4" nails and can't drive in the smaller nails, is this so?

Interesting forum...I am thinking of having this done to my house.

Do you know any companies in Essex that would supply and fit?
