Hi,

Could someone please advise what the max length of wall i could build as part of an extension down the side of house would be?

It will be the outer wall running parallel with existing gable. Wall will be cavity and both skins solid block. Simple lean to roof.

Would 8 m long x 3 m high be ok?

This would be with no internal supporting masonry walls, they will be built by wood/plaster

For single-storey walls, the maximum unsupported length of the wall stated in the guidance to the regs is 12m (in England; Scotland might be different, but probably not).

Sounds reasonable.

However, depends whether the walls will have any windows, doors or other openings.

Thee is guidance in Part A of the Building Regulations for small domestic extensions.

If you can keep the height down, you may be able to avoid Planning Permission as it could be "Permitted Development".

As the extension appears to be going down the side, I am not sure how close you are getting to the boundary with your neighbour. If you are close, you may need a Party Wall Award as well.

Hope this helps.
