Evening, i have 2 x metal halide light fittings at the front of my shop which i want to brighten up a bit.

The fittings have 70w bulbs at the moment and i was wondering if i can put 150w bulbs in them? The fitting has a 70w sticker on, but does not say max load anywhere on it as far as i can see.

Can i do this?

Thanks

Basically, no. The ballast will not be rated for larger lamps, a higher wattage lamp might get too hot, and may not even fit at all.

Looks like a couple more lights then. Thanks for your quick reply

A different colour metal halide will give off a brighter light.
Is there a code on the lamp fitted.
Avoid touching it with your bare hands though.
