Hi

I am looking at some garage storage shelfs the 1800x900x450 ones you get with MDF boards.

I have read that MDF can become very mouldy, any recommendations to alternative shelves or is this just standard with MDF in a garage and just need to paint the shelfs with oil based paint, of decking oil?

Garage is detached, not insulated, has vents.

Thanks

It's mostly down to ventilation. I've got a shed that's not well ventilated and the shelves get mouldy, and a garage that is well ventilated that never has issues.

Do boxes or items in the garage get mouldy now?

I've only been in the house 9 months but so far no mold in garage on anything, maybe a case of keep an eye on it and paint then if required

MDF is no more prone to mould than most surfaces, the spores settle on any surface, ventilation prevents that.
