Just wondering if mdf can be used outside if it has coatings of sealer on it.I want to start a business selling paited mdf cutouts to daycare centres for their fences. If mdf is not appropriate, what is? It needs to be as thin as mdf.

Jenny you can use moisture resistant mdf(green) fire resistant(red).
but i would use WBP (weather bonded ply) which comes in different thickness
a carpenter dave

you can get water proof mdf (its black) it costs money though.
even water resistant mdf will absorb water if its outside for long enough.
i know i've got loads of bits floating around in my garden

i second the previous post(s). A thin plywood which comes in 8'lengths is much more weather resistant than mdf and not a great deal more expensive
