I have recently regenerated the air gap in my cylinder. I am know finding that occasionally there is no water from the cold taps but the pressure and water returns after a short while. Any ideas what the problem could be.
Any help would be much appreciated.

With unvented hot water systems a pressure reducing valve is fitted to balance out the hot and cold water flow rates. It's a common fault for these to go faulty and start causing water pressure problems. But also just make sure severn Trent water aren't doing any works in your area, sounds daft but I've been caught out once by that!

Think about what you wrote.

Think about how the balancing function is achieved.

Think about the importance of that function in the grand scheme of things.

Then think about how that was achieved in the history of Megaflow (assuming it really is a Megaflow) Prv sets.

Then think about the problem.

But main mainly, think about the passage quoted. ;)
