Give em a rub over with wire wool and white spirit..dry em off and two coats of gloss, no undercoat.

I find that gloss goes yellow after a few months.

Try eggshell..or if you prefer white gloss Dulux and Johnshtones waters based gloss can both be used on hot surfaces

White paint will always yellow on coper pipes. They need Calcium Plumbate on them first to stop it.

Yep I see where your coming from there..I agree it will certainly need some sort of oil based primer...youl struggle to find plumbate these days though, maybe all purpous primer (zinc phosphate) will do as a first coat.

One of my big 'no noss ' ....everyone cuts corners in some shape or form I spose but one thing I will never do is bang the copper pipes in while im emulsioning the wall..they will go green.
