Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on cleaning the microbore pipes in my house due to a suspected blockage. Some might already know, that the Diverter valve on my potterton performa 28i changed out (twice). Since then the system hasn't worked properly.

Essentially only 50% of the radiators heat fully (Upstairs). When closing those rads, the downstairs work again.

I am wanting to use an agent to remove any debris / sludge in the system. I have had Sentinel 800x recommended to me, but this appears to be used for Power flush set ups, which I am not wanting to try just yet due to the age of the pipes. (Radiators are new (3 years)). So what is the best to put in the radiators which will not eat my boiler too?

Can I use a Citric acid based agent? or can i just pour in the Sentinel 800x?

And finally (maybe a dumb question), if i open the drain to the boiler (Hose attached) whilst at the same time opening the fill to the system. Would the fresh water travel around the system before going out through the hose? Almost acting like a flush (all be it not a very good one).

As ever, thanks in advance

What makes you think it needs a flush ? Heat naturally rises so close the upstairs lockshields then open them half a turn, open the downstairs lockshields all the way. Check all the rads as it'll probably need tweaking here and there. Not saying it doesn't need flushing but if all your rads get hot at some point there's obviously water getting to them. Also have you checked the pumps ok ? Didn't read your other post so apologies if i'm repeating.

Hi Gigz,

no your not repeating anything. I will certainly try that! Although the heating was working fine before the Diverter valve was installed so not sure what else would have changed. But for the sake of a 10 min job I'll give it a go!
