Hi

I've got an ongoing issue with the overheat thermostat going O/C. Must be replacing it every 3 months at the moment, Cleaning the condense unit every 2-3 weeks(never that dirty) & got the Mrs cleaning both filters before every cycle. Its six years old & we started to get issues 2 years ago. Thinking of trying a 180c thermostat in place of the 160c. It is in a utility room 16 M3, but has no rad in the room & the dryer has got good ventilation around it.

Any thoughts would be welcome

Have same problem with our T4659Ci. Did you know that you can 'reset' the stat by shocking it back to its resting position. This is done by throwing on the floor - I've done this now about 10-15 times and have never yet had to replace stat. As to underlying cause, I've tried again and again to work this out but without much success. I've taken our machine apart completely and didn't much wrong. Our machine seems to start groaning during a cycle and seems to be struggling to turn. The problem is that the motor that rotates the drum also directly drives the fan so if the drum slows down the air throughout drops and it overheats. The drum then expands from the heat and this makes things worse since it sits in a tight space. Do not change the stat temp rating - this wont work. The stat will still trip but it'll just fry your clothes first.

I've not replaced any parts yet but my main suspects are the rear bearing shell (located behind metal guard close to stat) or the front or rear felt seals. Miele parts are expensive and I have no confidence that replacing these parts will fix it. I've already decided that I will replace dryer before calling out Miele engineer since I know that the bill will be £££s. I only paid £150 for it second hand off ebay 2-3 yrs ago - now I know why.
