could anyone tell me what type of meter you would use to carry out cpc continuity when copper sheath acts as cpc and how the meter would be connected thanks for any help

Link both conductors measure resistance between both, devide by 2 and subtract meter leads resistance, that will give resistance of 1 conductor. Link 1 conductor to the copper sheath, go to other end of mims run and measure between conductor and copper sheath, deduct the resistance of meter leads & conductor you are left with the outer copper sheath (cpc) resistance (R2) showing you have continuity of the cpc.
