We have Maximum height of 2.2m in our loft. We had been advised that 2.4m is the minimum height requirements however diydata.com states...
Usually a height of 2.4m is required under the roof ridge (the highest point), although with careful design, you may get away with 2.1m.
Can anyone give any advice as to possible designs? WE have a floored traditional rafter roof that also has a few trusses. Our measurement is between the beams and the walled apex. Any advice would be gratefully received as we are dying to expand!

Hi,

The minimum height 2m is for the escape route only - if you are going to be tight it may be wise to position the new dormer at the top of the stairs. If you can get an architect/technician who provide a free initial site visit and advice to come out that may be your best bet.

Our finished ceiling hight is 2.15mtrs high, and has been signed of as within regs by the Building Regs Inspector. I would contact you local BRO and ask them what they require.

Who said your's was too low :?:

All I would say is when choosing Lighting, be mindful of very tall people.

Thanks so much. We were told it was too low by a building firm that then quoted us £53,000 for the job! This was a year ago though and we think there may have been a change in legislation. Fingers crossed!!
Thanks for the advice- will definitely do that.
