I have fitted a Mira Platinium pumped digital shower for a customer. I have fitted these before on many occassions and have alwasy used an essex or warix flange to avoid air locks. On this occasion I fitted a Warix flange to the top of the hot water storage cylinder. Its fitted so that the shower takes water from the top outlet thereby avoiding it sucking air. Anyway, it stopped working a few days ago. The pump was not taking any hot water so I disconected the feed pipe and it ran hot water through it with no problem. By the way, the pump is situated at the base of the hot tank with the CWSC directly above. We called Mira out and the engineer has blamed the flange as he says that it causes air locks. How can this be when it takes the water from below the top of the tank. He referred to the installation diagram showing the feed being taken off the riser pipe. He has replaced the pump and its working fine. Surely he would not have fitted a new unit if he doubted the installation, would he?
