Missing roof slate

Hi! I have a 9yr old building with slate roof and at the moment a raging storm has taking one of the slates, should I go back to the builder or go to my insurance company or get someone to fix it?

Insurance won't pay. Builder will fob you off.

Just get a roofer to replace

Try the builder first.
Get a quote, and check your insurance excess.
If the quote is less than the excess, do not inform your insurance.
If you do use your insurance, be aware that renewal costs could be affected.

9 years is a reasonable time to expect something to occur to a roof, whether that be impact from an object, or the failure of a previously cracked tile or warreva.

I had a customer the other day with a leak. It was out of warranty.. But I still honored it
