multi finish vs board finish

whats the advantage (if any) of using thistle board finish over multi finish on plaster board (ceiling)

i find thistle board finish is better suited to the low suction properties of plasterboard.

you aren't hanging around waiting for it to go off.

I find board finish will dry uniformly and will not tear as much when dry trowelling and flatenning before water application with the splash brush. Multi seems to go off in patches while other areas are not ready for that final dry polish leaving shiny patches. Maybe different with British Gypsum but this is what I find With the crap Irish Gyp.

one advantage of board over multi is that it's usually a little bit cheaper. I had to use board finish today because we ran out of multi finish, it was the first time I've used it and it was ok, to be honest there wasn't a lot of difference.

in the "old days" when float and set was all the rage, carlite finish was used to skim a browning wall.

if you happened to have a bag left over, and dared to use it on boards, what a pig!
it would hold off for 3/4's of an hour, then bang!
go off in 3 minutes!!
